GBYO and GBYSO members are selected through  competitive auditions held each spring.  Membership is open to all students, who study privately and are prepared to commit to an ambitious rehearsal and concert schedule. Youth orchestra members are strongly encouraged to participate in their school music organizations.

For the audition, students are required to perform a solo of their choice, orchestral excerpts which are mailed two weeks prior to the scheduled audition, and sight-reading.  For GBYO, students should prepare a NYSSMA level 5 or 6; GBYSO should prepare NYSSMA level 4 or 5.

Each student must re-audition every year.

Rehearsals are on Monday evenings, from September to May. GBYO will rehearse at Franklin Middle School, Kenmore and GBYSO will rehearse at Heim Middle School, Williamsville.

Financial Aid is available. Upon acceptance, please submit the Financial Aid form by July 15th.
